ADULT PSYCHOTHERAPY

The Process of Healing

Neurodivergence

Lindsey’s life (personal and professional) is filled with fabulous ADHDers, Autistics and AuDHDers and she genuinely sees the magic in neurodivergence bit also holds the complexity of the struggles simultaneously. Lindsey’s approach is one of radical self-acceptance and self-esteem building. Unfortunately, we cannot change all the systems around us, but we can resource ourselves to feel worthy enough and be proud of our neurodivergence and strive for happy lives.

Lindsey also works from a trauma lens when supporting other ADHDers and Autistics due to the ongoing trauma of being Neurodivergent within a neurotypical system. This includes the stages of late diagnosis and offers a space where the impacts of ADHD are deeply understood and Neurotypical “strategies” aren’t going to be offered.

Lindsey offers 1-1 therapy and expressive arts groups for Neurodivergents but does not offer diagnostic services. Lindsey does not require a diagnosis to work with you and believes self-diagnosis is equally valid. She has lived experience of late diagnosis and understands the ways in which women are often missed by the system and the impacts this can have.

Trauma and Attachment wounds

Lindsey has extensive experience working with trauma and attachment wounds in both children and adults. This includes unresolved childhood trauma, Birth trauma, Complex trauma, BPD, and trauma from all forms of abuse. Multiple approaches can be applied and dependent on the individual needs and relational dynamics. ‘Bottom Up’ approaches are preferenced, and this means paying close attention to the body and its somatic responses and using non-talk forms of therapy to process. This includes expressive arts, movement, and somatic approaches.

Therapy In motion – Embodied Movement based psychotherapy

Lindsey has completed level 1 of Therapy in motion and offers TIM-informed sessions. These sessions include a strong focus on using the body and movement with music to access deep knowing. There’s a large body of research that supports that the body holds all our stories, yet we traditionally don’t use our body within therapeutic sessions, this approach privileges somatic processing of the body's wisdom and allows your body to tell the unspoken stories it holds.

Therapeutic Arts

Lindsey uses an expressive arts-based approach to psychotherapy that supports the client to inquire into their desired content. This may include many different materials, movements, music, and sound expression.  This is offered in person and online and in groups.

Mental health

Lindsey has been a registered mental health nurse for two decades and has an interest in working with schizophrenia and voice hearing and completed training in 2006 in the UK in the Hearing Voices approach and Maastrict interview.

Lindsey also enjoys working with women with a diagnosis of Bipolar, and women diagnosed with BPD or who have experienced Birth trauma.

Lindsey's attachment-based approach is based on healing relational trauma within relationships.
